How Exactly Tetrasterone™ Works

TETRASTERONE™ consists of 4 main components:

-MBX™ Muscle Boosting Matrix (boron, zinc, D, D-AA)
-Eurycoma longifolia (Tongkat Ali) herbal extract 200:1
-GSE (grapeseed extract)
-Piperin

TETRASTERONE™ has 4 main areas of action:

-boosting testosterone production
-limiting estrogen production
-decreasing catecholamines (muscle breakdown) and
-decreasing SHBG (molecule binding free testosterone)

Below, we explain how these actions are achieved and how these claims are supported and explained by scientific studies.

1. Stimulating Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal Axis

(Achieved through: Eurycoma longifolia, Boron, D-AA)

Testosterone production is a result of complex cascade of hormonal signals starting in hypothalamus (part of brain) through several other hormonal glands. This study shows that Eurycoma longifolia directly stimulates the whole axis including LH (luteinizing hormone), FSH (follicle–stimulating hormone) and testicular testosterone. The conclusion is supported by this, this, this and this study. This study showed that 90,8% of men had normal testosterone values after eurycoma treatment, comparing to 35,5% before the treatment.
Boron also directly affects HPGA, as does D-AA.

2. Boosting DHT

(Achieved through: Eurycoma longifolia, Boron, D-AA, Zinc)

DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is a steroid hormone synthesised from testosterone by an enzyme called 5α-reductase. DHT has very strong androgenic effects, much stronger than testosterone. Men affected by congenital 5α-reductase deficiency lack properly developed genitalia and prostate gland. This shown the importance of DHT, along with a fact that it cannot be aromatised (transformed to estrogens) like its precursor testosterone. Both Eurycoma (study) and Boron (study) have been shown to increase DHT levels in humans.

3. Inhibiting Aromatase

(Achieved through: GSE, Eurycoma longifolia, Boron)

Aromatase is an enzyme responsible of conversion of testosterone in male body to estrogen. It means a significant part of testosterone is turned into estrogen under normal circumstances. Aromatase inhibition is an extremely important path for testosterone stimulation because it also lowers estrogens – group of hormones having opposite effects to testosterone. Therefore inhibiting aromatase both increases the level of testosterone and decreases the level of estrogen in bloodstream.
Tetrasterone™ contains two components inhibiting aromatase: Eurycoma longifolia extract (see study) and GSE extract (see study and study).

4. Inhibiting SHBG

(Achieved through: Eurycoma longifolia, Boron)

SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin) is a protein binding both estrogens and androgens, transporting them and regulating their blood levels. It means the more SHBG you have, the less free testosterone there is in your bloodstream.

5. Protection of Testes from Toxins

(Achieved through: GSE)

As this study shows, GSE protects testosterone-producing cells of testis from oxidative damage. That’s a very important fact as toxin-related infertility reaches up to 20% of male population in some countries.

6. Phosphodiestrase Inhibition

(Achieved through: Eurycoma longifolia)

This study concludes that Eurycoma longifolia also acts as phosphodiestrase inhibitor. This is interesting because inhibiting phosphosdiestrase means stronger erections in men. In fact, all the modern medicines for erectile dysfunction like Viagra or Cialis are based on phosphodiestrase inhibition.

7. Nitric Oxid (NO) Booster

(Achieved through: GSE)

Boosting Nitric oxide is a great bonus of Tetrasterone. Those seeking to increase muscle growth value the NO’s ability to increase oxygen and nutrient delivery to muscle fibers and better recovery after training. Being vasodilator, Nitric oxide also greatly improves male erection, thus complementing the testosterone effects. At least five studies confirm the NO-boosting effect of GSE, an important Tetrasterone™ ingredient: study, study, study, study and study.

8. DHEA Booster

(Achieved through: Eurycoma longifolia)

DHEA is another naturally produced steroid hormone. Use of DHEA is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency and the hormone is illegal for sale in most countries (with the notable exception of USA where it is promoted as anti-aging agent) there is little doubt about the many benefits of naturally produced DHEA in human body (one known natural DHEA booster is regular exercise).
This scientific paper, among others, explains how Eurycoma longifolia boosts DHEA in humans.

9. Increasing Vitamin D

(Achieved through: Boron, Vitamin D)

Vitamin D dramatically increases testosterone levels in blood, as shown by many studies (see here, here, here and here). Tetrasterone™ not only includes vitamin D as one of its ingredients, but it also increases the natural synthesis of Vitamin D in the body (by Boron, see study), thus indirectly stimulating higher testosterone production.

10. Preventing Zinc Deficiency

(Achieved through: Zinc)

No matter how hard you try to boost your testosterone, if there is underlying deficiency in Zinc, your efforts would be futile. Zinc supplementation has been repeatedly shown to increase testosterone, DHT and sperm count in zinc-deficient males (study, study, study, study). As the zinc-deficiency is hard to diagnose and inadequate intake may affect as many as 68% of men in some regions it is safe to assume that zinc is an important ingredient in any testosterone booster.

11. Increasing Bioavailability

(Achieved through: Piperine)

Piperine is known to dramatically increase the bioavailability of various substances, thus increasing their effects. This is achieved by inhibiting various enzymes, especially human CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein. In simple language, piperin prevents drugs/supplements from being metabolised and thus deactivated.
